Research in Practice aims to identify effective methods of understanding and using research in the field of child and family care in the U.K. Research in Practice provides services to a collaborative network of agencies who evaluate evidence-informed practice methods, and promotes professional development through their work programme. Their partner organization, Research in Practice for Adults www.ripfa.org.uk, offers similar services in the field of adult social care, including an extensive links list of UK-based research organizations.

RURU aims to improve the utilization of evidence in public policy and services in healthcare, education, criminal justice and social care through conducting original research, compiling existing research, and hosting educational events on research utilization.

• Offers online access to a searchable database of publications on research utilization in the fields of healthcare, education, criminal justice, and social care

• Manages an online forum for discussion about research utilization issues

• Hosts seminars on research utilization

• Offers online listing of publications on research utilization, some publications with online access

SCIE’s mandate is to improve social care by producing, promoting, and sharing knowledge about good practice in the sector.

• Offers online access to a publications and resources on a variety of themes related to social care (including the translation of research into practice in social care)

• Offers online access to toolkits or “practice guides” for practitioners in social care

• Hosts events such as workshops and discussion forums on social care issues

SSHRC is a federal agency that promotes and supports university-based research and training in the social sciences and humanities. SSHRC also offers support through partnership with government, business and non-profit organizations to enable development of strategic research programs. One such program is the Knowledge Impact in Society Program (KIS), which supports the translation of academic research in the social sciences and humanities to stakeholder communities.
