Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) Capacity Building Project

The Capacity Building project helps VIHA professionals to create and apply new research relevant to their practice, and facilitates health research partnerships. 

Services:

  • Hosts workshops on collaborative research and research skills

  • Offers online access to a database of funding opportunities for health-related research

  • Provides individual research consultations for VIHA research projects

  • Provides an online networking service to facilitate research translation collaborations between health care professionals, researchers, educators, and other health professionals in B.C.

What Works Clearinghouse (WWC)

WWC conducts systematic research reviews on educational intervention strategies, with the goal of determining how these strategies may best be applied in educational models. WWC identifies seven focal topics: Beginning Reading, Character Education, Dropout Prevention, Early Childhood Education, Elementary School Math, Middle School Math, and English Language Learners. 

Services:

  • Offers online access to WWC intervention reports (summaries and implications of research reviews) on a variety of topics related to education

  • Hosts events, such as presentations and forums, to discuss WWC developments and findings
